Kia Shows Off Sports Inspired Cars at SEMA 2011

South Korean automaker, Kia, rallied a sporty team of cars to present at this year's SEMA show. And by sporty, we do not mean high-performance sports cars. We simply mean - sporty.

One Kia concept to make a splash at the show was a brown-colored Retro Surf Rio5. Outfitted with 17-inch, three-piece gold wheels; a wood-grain finished surfboard mounted on the roof, a wood front splitter, and board-short-inspired upholstery, it's a wave rider's dream car come true.

The Kia to make a slam-dunk appearance at SEMA, however, was the Blake Griffin Kia Optima Hybrid. In honor of Blake Griffin himself and the amazing leap he took over a Kia Optima to win last year's slam-dunk contest, the Optima is painted to look like a basketball. The b-ball theme continues inside, with court-inspired flooring, and in the trunk where a Pop-a-Shot basketball hoop is stowed away.  To give prospective drivers a full-on basketball star experience, Kia has even fitted the Optima with a flat-screen TV that can be connected to an Xbox.

Prefer golf balls over basketballs? Kia has something for you, too. Called the 2012 Kia Soul Hole-In-One is adorned in graphics inspired by Michelle Wie's own customized golf bags. To further honor Wie, the golfer's logo is embroidered into the car's leather headrests. Under the hatch, the Soul gets an Xbox 360 with Kinect, two golf bags and a whole mess of speakers.

Of course, Kia didn't forget the hockey fans and racing enthusiasts, either. For those who can't get enough ice time, they presented the Hat Trick Forte hatch. And, for the true speed fiends - the Rio5 prepped for the forthcoming Sports Car Club of America B-spec racing series.

Given the diverse array of customized models Kia presented at SEMA, the automaker is scoring some very big points among car enthusiasts. The question is whether it's enough to win consumers production models. If you want to be among the first to know if it does, be sure to stay tuned.
