Kia Debuts Production EV and Concept Zero Emissions Car in Las Vegas

If you're a Kia fan and have been wondering when they would be coming out with competing EV and zero emissions cars?your time has come.

At the Consumer Electronics show is Las Vegas, Kia launched a production ready EV, called the Kia Ray and they also launched a concept version of their zero emissions cars, the Kia Naimo.

Fitted with a 50-kW electric motor as well as the aforementioned battery, the Kia Ray can drive for up to 86 miles on a single charge. Perhaps more impressive: the EV can be fully charged using a 220V outlet in as little as 25 minutes; and it's lithium polymer battery has roughly a 10-year lifespan. In short, it blows the competition out of the water.

What's so exciting about this debut, was that Kia chose to debut their EV car in North America. Currently, the Ray is only available to the South Korean Government. Analysts who follow the Kia brand are suggesting that the EV could be available in the United States sometime soon.

The Naimo, still a zero emissions concept car, generates just as much excitement because the concept car is a window into Kia's thoughts and newest technologies. Among the new high tech features are User Centered Driving (UCD) telematics like color night vision and a larger touch screen in the dashboard.
